Make a Model of a Human Hand

The Mystery Science lesson for this week is based on the way that muscles and bones work together in the human body and specifically in the hand.  They have a model of a human finger that you can make using the Mystery Science instructions.  However, if you can't make that model, or you'd like to try a different one, then check out these other options.

6. Flex and Extend: Modeling a Human Hand

Choose the option that works best for you.  You DO NOT need to go and buy any special supplies.  Think creatively.  Try to use items that you have around the house.

• You can cut up a cereal box to get cardboard.
• Use a paper clip or tape instead of beads.
• What can you substitute for string?
• Can you use rolled up paper and tape instead of a straw?
• What can you substitute for other materials?  Think creatively.

1. Goal: to find a Numskill "set" of 3 cards. A Numskill set is made up of three cards that contain a number bond and 3 different colors. In a number bond, the three numbers "go together". The numbers 4, 5, and 1 make up a number bond because 4+1=5, 5-1=4, and 5-4=1.
2. Example: a blue 3, a red 7, and a green 4 would be a Numskill set. The example set contains a number bond (3, 4, 7) and the cards are three different colors.

Summer Reading Challenge of 2020.

The challenge: You should read at least 5 good chapter books this summer.  Make sure you pick books that are the right challenge level for you.  If you can read more, the YOU ROCK!  Leave a comment on this page and I will add you to the official Summer Reading Challenge list.

But what do I do?

It's simple.

Each time you finish a book, leave the title and author's name in the comments section of Teacherp (this blog).  That's it.  Keep reading and I'll update your score as we go along.  Keep sending me updates throughout the summer.

Challenge levels:
1.  Participant -- 5 chapter books
2.  Superior -- 10 chapter books
3.  Elite -- 15 chapter books

Anyone from the school can join.  Tell your friends and siblings to join too.
