Both Esperanza Rising and Elena refer to the Mexican Revolution. This is one of the many parallels between these two stories. In Elena, you learned about two men, the rebel/bandit/folk-hero Pancho Villa and the dictator Porfirio Diaz. Read about these two men and decide whose side you would be on.
