In the story Holes, the main character's name is a palindrome.  A palindrome is a word or series of words that are spelled the same backwards and forwards. Stanley Yelnats likes this particular fact about his name.

Palindromes are words, phrases, or sentences that are spelled exactly the same forwards and backwards.  In the story Holes, Stanley Yelnats has a name that is a palindrome.  His family is very proud of this and names all of their boys Stanley.
