More Summertime Challenges & The SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Two more summer challenges have been pointed out me by students I have taught.  These both seem like great ideas to me.

Scholastic has a summer reading program which is recommended by Aimee.

There is a graphic novel contest sponsored by San Jose Public Libraries which is recommended by Gwen.

Don't forget to sign up for my Summer Reading Challenge.  You can leave a comment under this post to update your status or let me know that you want to join.  Your goal is to read a minimum of 5 chapter books this summer.  If you do this, I will recognize your work in the fall when we go back to school.  Enjoy some good books!

  1. Mr. Prola, Madeline told me she overheard that you will be doing 5th grade next year. If this is true, I am truly sad, and I do not understand WHY you would turn down a group of such wonderful kids like us. You wouldn't even have to ask for names, you could just go, "Hi Aimee" or "Hi Gwen" or whatever. Mr.Prola, why would you turn down all of our requests. If its not true then YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    1. I am flattered that you want to be in my class next year. However, the decision about what grade level teachers get belongs to the principal. I would never turn down this class of students. Your class is awesome.

    1. Try to give me a more exact count than 15+. I will update you when you let me know. Would you list some of the books for me in your next comment so that others can get ideas?

  3. Mr. Prola, I have finished three more Nancy Drew books, Ravenwood,This Old Heart of Mine,The Thief Lord, Caught, The Chestnut King, and The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey. These are actually books I finished a while ago, and did not mention them to you. No trying to show off or anything. BTW, I still have a couple of your books. I'll return them to you first day of school, I promise!
