Memorial Day

Do you know why we have a holiday this weekend?  Memorial Day is about much more than a day off, barbeques, and picnics.  It is a day to remember those who have fallen in wars.  Interestingly, Memorial Day has roots going all the way back to the Civil War, which we just finished studying in class.  Learn about the meaning of Memorial Day.

Civil War -- Primary Sources

Two of the most important primary source documents from the Civil War are The Emancipation Proclamation and The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln.

You can find more primary sources from the Civil War Trust.
A picture can be worth a thousand words.  The National Archives provides hundreds of photographs from the Civil War.
