Fractional Recipe Assignment

You math assignment over the February break is to find a recipe with at least 3 fractions in it and post it on Kidblog.

  • Type the oringinal recipe on Kidblog.  Include the cooking instructions and how much it makes.
  • You will then need to triple the recipe and type in the new measurements.
  • After that, you need to take the original recipe and cut it in half.  Post the new measurements.

Here is my example that I posted on Kidblog.

Don't forget to include the instructions for the recipe and the amount that the recipe makes.  For extra credit, you can make the recipe and post a picture of yourself making it. (You don't actually need to cook unless you want the extra credit.)  This is a good way to share a favorite family recipe.  Have fun!

Fractional Recipe Assignment

Your math homework over the break is to find a recipe with at least 3 fractions in it and post it on Kidblog.  You then need to triple the recipe and cut it in half.  Please make sure that you type the list of ingredients neatly.  I suggest using bullet points or numbers.  I posted a sample recipe for you to look at under my daughter's account.

Don't forget to include the instructions for the recipe and the amount that the recipe makes.  For extra credit, you may choose to make the recipe and post a picture of yourself making it.  (You don't need to actually cook unless you want extra credit.)  Be creative.  This is a good way to share a favorite family recipe.

Iready bonus:  Those of you who complete at least 4 Iready math lessons over the break can claim an Iready bonus from me when we get back.

Your math homework over the break is to find a recipe with at least 3 fractions in it and post it on Kidblog.  You then need to triple the recipe and you need to cut the recipe in half.  I have posted an example for you to see under my daughter's account.  Please make sure you type in the list of ingredients neatly.  I recommend using bullet points or numbers.

Don't forget to include the instructions and the amount that the recipe makes.  As extra credit, you can post a picture of yourself making the recipe or with the finished product.  (Actual cooking is not required for this assignment, unless you want extra credit.)  Be creative.  This is a fun way to share a favorite family recipe.

Congratulations to Lorelei and Ethan C for entering the District's recipe contest and placing third and fourth.  If you are interested in trying out their recipes, they were kind enough to post them online.  Check these out!

Civil War -- Primary Sources

Two of the most important primary source documents from the Civil War are The Emancipation Proclamation and The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln.

You can find more primary sources from the Civil War Trust.
A picture can be worth a thousand words.  The National Archives provides hundreds of photographs from the Civil War.
